Prof. Hitoshi Mitomo is a Professor of Telecommunication Economics and Policy in Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University Japan. He is the Director of the Institute for Digital Society (IDS), Waseda University. He was a visiting Professor at Centre for Information and Communication Research, Stockholm School of Economics in 2007. He is the President of the Japan Society of Information and Communication Research (JSICR)and also as a council member of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and has been involved in policy-making processes related to ICT and the media.

Prof. Hitoshi Mitomo is prolific researcher and has over 132 publications in refereed journals and proceedings, 16 books and more than 17 research projects. His present research theme is in socio-economics and impact analysis of ICT and other infrastructure development; ICT Applications with modern technologies as a solution to social problems; Pilot programs of ICT applications to education: introduction, diffusion and effects.
